CARING FOR YOUR PEARLS

Wearing your pearls

Sterling silver and gold tarnishes over time especially when exposed to chemicals and physical damage, but with proper care, your Perola jewelry will retain its beauty and character for many generations to come. Pearls are resilient and are meant to be worn not to be stored, so we strongly encourage you to use or wear your PÉROLA pieces frequently. Avoid letting your jewelry to come into contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Always put on your jewelry as a final touch, after applying makeup and styling hair. Please do not wear your jewelry in the shower or when swimming. Use a soft cloth to clean your jewelry after wear. Even with the best of care, small parts of jewelry may come loose. Before wearing, carefully check such parts as the prongs that support the jewels, the screws of earrings. If you notice any looseness, we recommend that you take your jewelry to a specialist.

Storing your pearls

Pearls are exceptionally shock-resistant, but may be scratched by contact with sharp objects or other gemstones. To prevent tangles and scratches, lay each item out separately in a compartmentalized jewelry box. Keeping them in a ziplock bag will help to retain the moisture surrounding the pearls but the pearls need to be aired from time to time, so enjoy them frequently. When carrying jewelry, use a protective jewelry pouch.
